Owner & Head Coach
With over 25 years of boxing experience, Nathan built Ballard Barbell & Boxing Club on a simple mission—bring real boxing training to Ballard with no gimmicks, just solid coaching. As a lifelong athlete, he’s done it all: collegiate rugby, high school wrestling, karate, and jiu-jitsu. But boxing? That’s the sport that stuck.
Nathan saw too many people getting shortchanged on quality coaching, so he stepped up and opened Ballard’s first boxing gym—creating a space where anyone willing to put in the work could train like a fighter. His background as a CrossFit trainer and deep love for community engagement shaped the gym’s atmosphere: tough, welcoming, and built for people serious about improving.
Outside the gym, Nathan’s either training, watching fights, talking rugby, or heading outdoors to hunt and reset. His four kids are often around the gym, making it clear—this place is more than just a business, it’s family. Whether you're stepping into the ring for the first time or sharpening your skills, Nathan is here to push you, challenge you, and make sure you leave better than you came.

Strength & Conditioning Coach
Kate is all about movement—whether it’s in the gym, on the field, or out in the mountains. A former competitive soccer player, she knows firsthand how critical proper training is for staying strong, preventing injuries, and performing at your best. That’s why she’s dedicated her career to helping athletes build resilience, move efficiently, and sustain their athleticism for life.
At Ballard Barbell & Boxing Club, Kate takes a proactive approach to training, focusing on movement mechanics, injury prevention, and mental toughness. She believes true success isn’t just about short-term wins—it’s about setting athletes up for long-term strength and longevity in their sport and beyond.
Outside the gym, you’ll find Kate skiing, sailing, hiking, backpacking, cooking, or diving into a good book. She’s constantly moving, exploring, and pushing herself—just like she challenges her athletes to do every day. Whether you’re training to compete or just want to move and feel better, Kate is here to help you build a foundation that keeps you strong for life.
